How FU1 - Renting a co-location space/rack with 1 kW of power - works

Introduction

DCFootprint estimates the environmental impacts of the life cycle of the Datacenter, depending on its generic description (based on the input parameters), before computing the share of impact of each other Functional Unit.

This Functional Unit “1” is defined in the Ademe Cloud & Datacenter PCR, as “Provide hosting services for operation of the IT equipment”.

Version 1 - early stage version

This is the very first version of the methodology. It will evolve in the future, in order to be able to compare results between each model version. Please see the roadmap page.

Methodology

With:

DatacenterImpacts: the impacts calculated before in the Datacenter section, see the FU0 methodology.

DatacenterLifetime: the lifetime set as an input.

CommercializedPower: the total power that the provider car sell to its clients, in kW. Formula is:

CommercializedPower = TotalPowerInstalled / PowerUsageEffectiveness
