Building total surface

The total floor area inside the building, including all floors, in square meters / m³.

Location

The name of the country where the data center is installed.

Total power installed (IT+facility)

The total power installed for the data center, used by the IT hardware but also the non-IT technical environment, including cooling, security devices, lighting, etc.

Load factor

DCFootprint needs an hypothesis on the usage ratio of the total power installed for the data center. This ratio is also used in the surface-based IT inventory model.

Power Usage Effectiveness

The Power Usage Effectiveness as defined in the EN 50600-4-2 standard. Base definition of this indicator is Total_Electricity_consumed / IT_Electricity_consumed, and ranges from 1.0 for a perfect theoritical value in a perfectly energy-efficient data center to much higher values when cooling and other elements of the building have a significant overhead on electricity consumption. As an example, 2025 global average PUE from Uptime Institute is 1.54.

Water Usage Effectiveness

The WUEsite (see EN 50600-4-9), Water Usage Effectiveness of the datacenter, only regarding the local water consumption.

Building lifespan

Lifespan time hypothesis for the whole datacenter building, in years.
